We are $199 away from seeing Mr. Hiemstra do the Hula on Friday! Your child can make a $1+ donation and receive an entry to win a free book. Support a good cause so Mr. Hiemstra can entertain the kids (we will video and post on website for all to enjoy!).

Families will have the opportunity to say farewell to Mr. Bursi at the Year End Pool Party on Saturday, May 19, at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort. More details will follow, but mark your calendars!

If you would like to help in the planning process, there will be a brainstorming session on Tuesday, April 24 at 9 am in the Staff Lounge.

We are looking for pictures of Mr. Bursi throughout his 11 years at Copper Canyon. There is a box in the front office where you can drop your pictures. Please e-mail electronic pictures to Kimberly Bogues at jksbogues@cox.net. Have a special memory of Mr. Bursi? Please send your most special moments/memories over the past to Tami Hoey at tamihoey@cox.net.

Copper Canyon students will enjoy a week of presentations and activities with scientists and professionals from our Copper Canyon community and the local area.  Science Week strives to show our students how interesting and exciting science can be.  Our world is ever moving forward in advancements in science and we don’t want our children to be left behind.  After all, how many jobs that are well-known today even existed when we were children?  We want our children to be open-minded about the possibilities that science can bring to their lives and careers.  Please encourage your children to participate in each presentation and tell you about what they learned that day.  We want to reinforce the importance and relevance of science in our everyday world and inspire our students to become engaged and curious science learners.

It has been announced that Dr. Lee will recommend Mr. Kyle Shappee for the principal of Copper Canyon Elementary School at the April 5, 2012 Governing Board meeting.  The Governing Board still needs to vote on the recommendation before it is official.  Mr. Shappee is currently the Assistant Principal at Desert Shadows Middle School, and we know they are sad to lose him.  If you would like to meet Mr. Shappee, and welcome him to the Copper Canyon family, you are welcome to attend the Governing Board Meeting at the District tomorrow (Thursday, 4/5) at 7 pm.
